The top five busiest stations in the Copeland area have been revealed.
The Office for Rail and Road (ORR) looked at the number of people entering and exiting every station in Britain, including the 14 for which data was collected in Copeland.
The top five stations were:
- Whitehaven, with 241,000 entries and exits into the station in 2022-23.
- Millom, which saw people enter and exit 168,000 times last year.
- Sellafield, where 137,000 entries and exits were recorded.
- St Bees, with 71,390 entries and exits.
- Corkickle, with 51,068 entries and exits.
Elsewhere in Britain, Liverpool Street in London overtook Waterloo as the most-used station in the country, which the ORR attributed to the opening of London's latest train service, the Elizabeth Line.
Waterloo had been the busiest station in the country in all but one of the previous 18 years, but it even dropped to third in the year to March behind Paddington, also on the Elizabeth Line.
