THE deputy leader of Cumberland Council is urging people to ‘spread kindness and compassion’ this festive season.
In a Christmas message, councillor Emma Williamson said: “I extend my heartfelt appreciation to residents, staff, partners, and volunteers for supporting our communities in 2023. Representing you all fills me with pride, and I look forward to a happy 2024.
“Let's remember the importance of supporting residents and transforming our council through early help and prevention. This Christmas, create a community where everyone feels supported, empowered, and valued. By focusing on early help, address challenges before they escalate, uplifting individuals and families with assistance and resources.
“Together, invest in programs promoting well-being, education, and social inclusion. Strengthen our communities through early intervention, fostering resilience for everyone to thrive. Reflect on the positive impact of support and prevention.
“May this season inspire us to spread kindness and compassion. Wishing you a Christmas filled with love, joy, and the satisfaction of transforming lives and building a caring community.”
