A CHURCH in Cleator Moor has created a Posada which represents West Cumbria.

St Mary's Church created the model, the Posada tradition started in Mexico and is a re-enactment of Mary and Joseph's journey to Bethlehem.

There is a tradition of the nativity scene building in Naples that shows the birth of Jesus set in Naples in the eighteenth century.

St Mary's has tried to replicate this with their model showing Mary and Joseph traveling through the area.

A spokesperson said: "The pictures on the triptych show scenes from the nativity accounts and the local fells. The right panel shows the Annunciation, the angel Gabrielle appearing to Mary saying, 'Listen! You are to conceive and bear a son, and you must name him Jesus.' (Luke 1:26-38).

"The left panel shows angel of the Lord appearing to Joseph in a dream, 'Joseph, son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary home as your wife, for she has conceived what is in her by the Holy Spirit'. (Matthew 1:18-25) The central panel shows the Nanny Catch valley with Raven Cragg behind Dent.

"I have depicted the Holy family crossing Monk’s bridge, a nearby old pack horse bridge that crosses the River Calder."
