POLICE in Whitehaven have been conducting traffic stop checks.
This was to check that the cars people were driving around the town were safe and adequate.
A spokesperson said: "Today Copeland neighbourhood policing team has conducted a winter traffic stop check, to make sure members of the public are driving in safe and adequate cars.
"We pulled over 30 cars and issued one Tor for someone driving with no insurance. Most drivers were pleasant and grateful and were appreciative of the police.
"From the police, we were pleased to see that most of the cars we stopped were in good condition and all tyres met up to legal requirements.
"Please stay safe when on the road driving in wintery conditions."
