A CUMBRIAN MP met with a modular reactor company this week.
Copeland MP Trudy Harrison discussed plans for the company pitching a site in West Cumbria.
Mrs Harrison said: "At COP28 UAE 24 countries committed to triple their nuclear energy capability by 2050 - and those 24 operate technology in over 140 countries.
"Important to know that only 17% of our energy mix is electric, the remaining 83% is harder to decarbonise industry, trucks, trains, planes and heat.
"Today I met with Nucleo, a 200MW Advanced Modular Reactor company pioneering MOX fuel.
"Yet another company pitching to site in West Cumbria due to our unique position as the original and best centre of nuclear excellence and unrivalled supply chain.
"We’re all excited to get the Nuclear Roadmap and Sites Strategy out of the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero door early in 2024."
