A CUMBRIAN MP discussed the importance of nature and health on social media this week.
Copeland MP Trudy Harrison explained how she had gotten to know Andrew Denton whilst being involved with Defra and shared her admiration for his work and experience.
She said: "I was introduced to Andrew Denton whilst serving as Defra’s environment minister - his forty years experience of the great outdoors combined with his knowledge of our impending UK health crisis provides a compelling reason to work alongside him, and others trying to do better.
"Sadly our children are now less connected to nature, we are the third most obese country in Europe - which leads to indisputable physical and mental health issues and we are one of the least active.
"A naturally healthy Britain is something we could and should all get behind. Our fells and mountains, lakes and rivers, beautiful coastline, miles of tracks, parks, and fabulous forests are there for us all.
"And I hope that 2024 will be a year we move more."
