A CUMBRIAN MP praised the work of farmers in the West Cumbrian community.
Copeland MP Trudy Harrison met with agricultural workers at a dinner event in Gosforth.
Mrs Harrison said: "Huge thanks to all the farmers and advisors who joined our very tasty 'Pie n Pea' supper at the fabulous The Kellbank in Gosforth last Friday.
"In particular to Veronica from the Farmer Network for providing specific and latest information on farming support from Defra and the many new standards now available.
"Additionally to Helen and Amanda for explaining the opportunity and ambitions of the Western Lakes CiC, and progress made by Land App mapping of all farms participating.
"Technology is playing an increasing role in farming, there are many funds available to support the transition but nothing can replace what I termed as the indigenous knowledge of hill farmers.
"Finally to Julius and Will who explained the private finance options - all looking to invest in habitat creation for Biodiversity Net Gain, water, soil and air quality and a plethora of other schemes."
