WITH less than a month until Christmas, some people in Cumbria will already have their Christmas trees up ready for the big day.

Some people think plastic is fantastic, but if you're planning on putting a real tree in your home this December, where are the best places to go?

From supermarkets and hardware stores to garden centres and specialist growers, we're spoiled for choice when it comes to picking up a Norway spruce or Nordmann fir.

If you're off to choose a tree, here are five options worth considering...

Mapa Trees

Mapa Trees have been nurturing real Christmas trees for over a decade. From the classic Norway Spruce, to the contemporary Lodgepole Pine, their growers produce 'only the finest' homegrown trees using largely traditional farming methods.

Their fresh grown Christmas trees are available for sale from December 1 until Christmas Eve, at Brackenbank, CA4 8HZ.

Christmas Trees - Little Orton

Christmas Trees - Little Orton is a family business that began 20 years ago freshly cut and locally grown Nordmann fir Christmas trees.

Located in Carlisle at CA5 6EP, they opened a week earlier than planned this year due to the increased demand from the people of Cumbria.

Over many years of bringing locally grown Christmas trees to the local community, the family business has created connections with a number of regular customers.
