This year's Remembrance Day Parade will take place in the coming weeks.
The parade will be held in Whitehaven on Sunday, November 12. The procession will start at the Copeland Centre on Catherine Street at 10.40am and will proceed to the War Memorial at Castle Park.
The procession will then continue onto the United Reformed Church for a service of remembrance.
Mayor Chris Hayes said: "I'm looking forward to the parade this year because this is our chance to thank those who lost their lives in the wars.
"It's a nice way to say thanks to all those people and we are expecting a big turnout this year."
Local business owner Gerard Richardson has been asked in his role as deputy lieutenant to lead the parade.
Mr Richardson added: "Remembrance Day is an annual chance for everyone to recognise the freedoms that have been hard fought.
"Right now with so many people expressing strong opinions about the current situations in the world, you have to remember that we only have the freedom to express these opinions because of the sacrifices made during two world wars.
"It's important, regardless of who you are or what you are, that you at least acknowledge that.
"It's good that the councils across the country stop each year to acknowledge that.
"Remembrance is very important for that reason, it really is one of the hinge points of our democracy and it is a good chance for us to remember what we have on the back end of those who sacrificed to give us it.
"Remembrance is first and foremost a solemn occasion and as a veteran of His Majesty's forces, I'm always proud to remember the sacrifices made by people."
Mr Richardson explained that he will be proud to lead the parade this year.
A spokesperson from Whitehaven Town Council added: "Please be aware that there will be a road closure in place on Lowther Street from the traffic lights at Morrisons to the traffic lights at the Civic Hall from 10.30am to 11.30am and The Market Place from 11.15am to 11.45am."
