Whitehaven Theatre of Youth (WToY) is to celebrate a quarter-century history of engagement with local youths on October 21 at Whitehaven Golf Club.
The anniversary will feature performances encompassing 25 years of musical numbers by present and past actors, as well as guest spots by former members now promoted to Junior Leaders.
WToY's survival depends on fundraising, family events, and the sweat of devoted parents, with a recent boost of £10,000 from The Mark Benevolent Fund.
This sizeable donation will enable technology upgrades including more radio microphones and video production equipment, and create a significant year-on-year cost saving to their productions.
One of the Trustees of the group commented, “The leaders, creative team and parent support work hard to produce professional shows and concerts for the members."
"Obviously, this comes at a cost and this donation goes a long way for us to continue to lay the foundation for quality youth performing arts in west Cumbria”.
