BRITISH-Indian couple, Sachin and Shubha Sachin, are spicing up the Cumbrian food scene with their Indian street food business, Dosa Chaska.
Living in England since 2006, the couple, originally from India, is passionate about bringing an authentic taste of their homeland to Cumbria. Driven by Shubha's vision, the couple launched Dosa Chaska to give Cumbrians an immersive taste of Indian culture and food. Their daughters, Aarshiya, 12, and Aadya, 10, also play pivotal roles, aiding as young entrepreneurs.
Dosa Chaska is part of a vision to create an Indian Global Village offering diverse multicultural experiences of wellness through food, yoga and other ancient Indian wellness science. The family business aim to foster community engagement while preserving the authenticity of Indian taste, culture, and diversity
Their mission is to provide an authentic Indian experience, celebrating the rich tapestry of Indian cuisine, festivals, and cultural heritage. Sachin said: "We aim to create a welcoming and immersive environment that bridges cultures through food."
When Sachin and Shubha moved to Cumbria two and a half years ago they felt the area lacked true Indian food. Their approach is based on Ayurveda, the ancient Indian science which links food with wellness and considers it as nurturing for the mind, body and soul.
Dosa Chaska's dishes not only combine six traditional flavours of sour, sweet, salty, pungent, astringent, and bitter, but also promote wellbeing. They believe food isn't just about nourishment, but forms a connection with family and community. Sachin said: "it is a love shared with family and bring togetherness. "

The pair have started providing education about Indian food, and they want to continue to explore opportunities for educational programs and expand their presence across Cumbria, as well as secure some funds to start the Indian Global village in Whitehaven.
