STAFF at Whitehaven care home, Great Gables, have started to prepare for their memory walk in aid of Alzheimer's UK.
The Gables and Bethshan nursing home staff are pairing up for the walk which will take them from Wyndham Manor, down to Mirehouse, up to High Field House, and then to Harbour View and Corkickle, ending back at Great Gables.
When the other homes have completed this, Great Gables residents are hosting a celebration party for those involved. The party items will include tea, cakes, prosecco with a warm welcome from Great Gables residents.
Great Gables who have raised £200 so far are hoping to pair with other dementia homes in the area to take part.
Jamie Todd, who works at Great Gables said: "Alzheimer's Society asked if we would be interested, so we organised it on our end, and wanted to make it bigger and better."
“The staff are really excited to do it, and our residents are always ready and excited to do things for charity. I think it is just what their generation were all about."
"We have staff members who have joined the gym and preparing walking long distances. We will have our residents at the finish line waiting with prosecco and well done badges for all involved."
