WHITEHAVEN successfully hosted its inaugural Pride event this weekend, with an inclusive celebration by the harbourside.
Organised by Proud and Diverse Cumbria, the inclusive event saw parade, stalls, entertainment, food vendors and fairground rides, all whilst signifying diversity and inclusivity.
The event started with a parade that was led by town crier Marc Goodwin, and included drag artist Billie Raymond and Drum Nation's musicians, ensuring a lively start. Critical to the event’s all-encompassing ethos, sign language interpretation was available on stage via Cumbria Deaf Association for performances.
The event included performances from other big names in show biz such as East 17, Sandi Thom, Angie Brown, Katherine Ellis, Tina Cousins, Ross Alexander and many more.
Glenn from Proud and Diverse Cumbria said: "I, personally am heartwarmed by the welcome the people of Cumbria gave this event yesterday. "
"It is with huge thanks to our sponsors and supporters that have enabled this event to be completely free to attend"
