WEST Cumbria based entrepreneur group, TEG, have released a new podcast 'TEG Talks'.

TEG Talks has been created to highlight the journey of start up businesses in West Cumbria. The podcast hosted by TEG mentor, Rachel Gaw, will interview small businesses, micro businesses, community interested companies and more.

The platform gives the entrepreneur's time to tell their story and raise their profiles, whilst informing residents of west Cumbria about the new and up-coming businesses in the area.

The aim is to encourage more people to take the leap into starting their own businesses. What we do at TEG is unique, we provide open ended mentorship from a kitchen table idea to trading on our markets and potentially into their own commercial space.

Jenny Brumby, TEGretail project manager shared an insight of what is to come, she said: "There are 10 fantastic businesses on TEG talks, from food creators, artists, ethical clothing, dog product's,  educational workshops, families in businesses and young entrepreneurs."

The podcast is currently on episode 7 and has featured businesses including Howling Wolf Artisan Bakery and Cafe, Active Kids Zone, Sugar Tongue, Eco. Lure, KW Creatives and many more are set to feature.

Jenny continued to speak about the future of the talks, she said: "We are hoping to get sponsorship for more TEG Talks, our next tranche will be established SME's from west Cumbria who will talk about their journey to stay sustainable."

TEG CIC, have worked with over 180 start-up businesses in the past 18 months. Their goal this year is to open a retail support hub in the heart of Whitehaven that will serve an incubator to fill the empty shops with new independent businesses.

The concept for TEG's plan is simple;

  • Come to TEG with your idea
  • Create a short business plan together
  • Sell your products at TEG's free monthly entrepreneurs market
  • When you're ready to expand, TEG will get you into the enterprise hub or your own space on the highstreet.
