MARATHON Man Gary McKee is taking on the Grand to Grand Ultra Challenge for charity this September.
The race takes place in northern Arizona and southern Utah, USA and the races will comprise of six stages over seven days, with overnight camps provided each night as the event travels north.
A spokesperson from Hospice at Home West Cumbria said: "The stages will vary in distance, ranging from approximately 8 miles (12 kms) to approximately 53 miles (85 km).
"There will be cut-off times on each day, all of the stages must be completed by the daily cut-off times, and in order.
"Anyone not finishing a stage will be disqualified and will no longer be allowed to participate.
"This challenge is self-supported, meaning that from the time Gary wakes up on the morning of Stage 1 through to the morning of Stage 6, he will be responsible for carrying and utilising all his equipment, clothing, and food that is deemed necessary for the 7 day period to see him complete the event."
