Volunteers aged from one to 80-plus took part in a planting day held in Workington.
The town's Green Space Friends organised the event in Bankfield Mansion Gardens and appealed to members of the public to join them.
Green Space Friends is a volunteer group committed to improving green spaces in the area for nature and people.
Volunteers planted a selection of pollinator-friendly perennials and herbs in a raised bed in the rather overgrown Italian Garden area.
"The rain held off, so a well-earned picnic was enjoyed by all the participants," said Valerie Hallard.
"We are grateful to Cumberland Council and Zero Carbon Cumbria for providing a Great Big Green Week grant and to Helen’s Herbs for help with planning and supplying the plants."

As well as organising special events, Green Space Friends meet every Tuesday afternoon to do a range of tasks, such as litter-picking, planting or sowing seeds, weeding flower beds and creating improved areas for wildlife.
"We aim to provide tasks to match volunteers rather than the other way around," said Valerie.
"It’s a good way to stay healthy and great for a positive mood."
