A CAFE in Whitehaven known for its window displays has created a new summer feature celebrating one of the town's newest visitors.
Cafe West in Whitehaven has created a window display featuring a handcrafted model of Stella the Seal.
Many people will know that Stella has become a regular feature of the town whilst walking around the harbourside.
In recent weeks she has often been seen resting on the slipways with lots of passers-by stopping to take a photograph.
June Pearson, a volunteer at Cafe West, said: "They asked if I could do something appropriate for summer in the Cafe West window.
"So I thought that I'd do it seaside-themed with seagulls and buckets with spades. Alison Ostle, the manager of Cafe West, suggested including a seal.
"We were initially going to use a toy one but I realised I had some grey velvet somewhere so I thought I'd make my own. Unfortunately, I didn't have a pattern so it was trial and error.
"It worked out quite well and we managed to get a good size one to sit on a rock in the window.
"The one in the harbour is of course called Stella but we didn't have a name for ours so we're running a competition to name it to win a voucher for Cafe West."
