A restaurant in Cumbria welcomed a celebrity diner on the weekend.
The Queen’s Hotel in St Bees welcomed Liverpudlian comedian and former athlete John Bishop in for a meal with his friends.
Nathan Lord, who helps run the business with his family, said he was a great customer, but stayed humble: “It was just all casual.
“The table was booked under a friend’s name, and then he arrived and the staff were panicking.
“They told us John Bishop was there, and they were really excited.
“Everything went well, he enjoyed his meal, and he left a really big tip.”
The general atmosphere was calm as usual, as Nathan explained: “He was friendly and kept it casual, it was a really nice, relaxed atmosphere when he came here for food.”
A committed vegetarian for over 30 years, Nathan said the comedian ordered a vegan burger with vegan cheese.
He also said that Mr Bishop, who was dining with his friends, was partaking in the coast-to-coast challenge and stopped en route.
