AN independent computer shop has been named the best dressed window in town - after setting up a life-size model of King Charles III to mark his coronation.
Milltech Computers in Whitehaven created the model of His Majesty, complete with a cardboard mask of his face strapped around the head, a grey wig, white shirt, red tie, and navy blazer - and replica medals.
Last week, judges for the Coronation Window Dressing Competition, organised by Rotary in Whitehaven, handed first prize to Milltech Computers for its unique display.
Elly Day, of Whitehaven Castle Rotary, said: “Judges spent a wonderful morning walking around the town , looking at all the decorated windows. They were very impressed and had some really difficult decisions to make.
“Eventually, it was decided that Milltech Computers in the Market Place would be the Winner.
“Two Runners up were chosen as Michael Moon's Bookshop and Tommy-Lee's Soft Play. All three were awarded a glass trophy and certificate by Whitehaven Castle President Peta Leigh.
“However, the standard of the displays around the town was so good that two Highly Commended certificates were also awarded to Haven Crafts and Cafe West.
“Both Rotary Clubs would like say a huge thank you to all the businesses with decorated windows for their hard work. It has certainly added to the festive atmosphere in Whitehaven.”
