Muncaster Castle, near Ravengalss, has been shortlisted for Small Visitor Attraction of the Year in the Visit England Awards for Excellence 2023.
The popular visitor attraction has announced that they are absolutely thrilled with the news.
Ewan Frost- Pennington, operations manager at Muncaster Castle said: "We're delighted to be shortlisted for the award.
"We won two Cumbria Tourism awards, one was the sustainability award and the other was for the small visitor attraction of the year.
"Both of those were a big deal for us but it is amazing that we've been nominated for a national award, so that means for Small Visitor Attraction of the Year we're not only the top one in Cumbria but we're also in the top three in England. We just don't know if we're going to get gold, silver, or bronze.
"We're thankful for all the local support and we're going our Friends of Muncaster scheme massively so a lot of what we do is because we have that local backing that we want to continue to foster.
"That's because it's the locals that make us successful rather than other tourist attractions that rely on people just passing by."
