This week the our nation will be celebrating in true style as for the first time in years a new monarch will be crowned.
On Saturday, May 6, the world will watch on as King Charles will ascend to the throne.
Last year millions were left devastated as King Charles' mother, the late Queen Elizabeth, sadly passed away.
The Queen's reign on the throne spanned for 70 years, longer than many of us can even remember.
So many of us will be finding our own ways to celebrate this historic occasion, some of us may be spending time with our friends, family and loved ones.
Some popular activities over the weekend will include afternoon teas, street parties and watching the event unfold on television.
Before Charles was King he was a Prince and spent time travelling around Britain and the rest of the world.
Of course, over the years, he has made visit to Whitehaven and the rest of Cumbria.
The King and other members of the royal family, including the late Queen Elizabeth, have been welcomed with open arms in recent years as they came to greet the people of our local community.
Here at The Whitehaven News we've searched through our archives to find some photos of King Charles on his visits to our area.
Some of the photos show the King on a visit to Whitehaven back in 2010 as he meets with emergency workers at West Cumberland Hospital.
Other photos show him at the Theatre by the Lake and Derwentwater in Keswick.
