This week our Trader of the Week is Josh Murphy of Seascale who has set up his own company as a music business educator.
Josh, 23, from Seascale, has been passionate about music all his life from performing himself to working with other bands and artists.
He now hopes to follow his passion and develop his own startup company brand to help his fellow creatives and musicians.
Mr Murphy said: "I run a music education startup company and we run CPD accredited courses in topics and music for musicians, such as: management, marketing, mental health, events management and branding amongst other things.
"Really what we're doing is bridging the gap between higher education and the music industry. Because we've got lots of fantastic workshops and courses where musicians can learn how to play music, but we don't have much in the way of how musicians can leverage their trade for a wage.
"So my course basically shows musicians what they need to enter the music industry whilst also allowing them to gain a qualification. Which makes them much more appealing to an employer, say if they wanted to be hired by a venue and they've got an events management CPD accredited course on their CV. Compared to a musician that doesn't have this qualification the applicant will look far better.
"The company is a startup so I'm obviously looking for funding and other things, it's very early days but it the past two weeks I've made a lot of progress on it. I seem to have and cracked a bit of an egg.
"For the past couple of years, I've been trying to look for something that was viable, not only for me but for the music industry and something that actually helps musicians to learn the skills that they need to learn. So, I feel like I'm onto a good idea here."
