Whitehaven Town Council have announced their plans for King Charles' Coronation later this year.
The Coronation will take place this summer on Saturday, May 6.
Plans are in place to host a photo exhibition in St Nicholas' Gardens. The photos will show royal visits to Whitehaven and the surrounding areas in years gone by.
With photos including the late Queen Elizabeth's visit to Whitehaven harbour, Prince Philip's visit to the old Marchon factory amongst other fascinating pictures. With some including visits from King Charles.
A key theme will look at how our area has changed in the King's lifetime and feature information on his life.
Gerard Richardson, a business owner who has helped to organise the event, said: "I’m absolutely delighted that the town council have agreed to host these events during Coronation week. For many people this is a once in a lifetime occasion so we wanted to make sure as many folks as possible could take part.
"The exhibition will take a look at past Royal Visits to the town, and we will expand on the memories of the visits by showing other photos of how that particular part of the town has changed over the years since King Charles was born.
"There will also be some information about the King's life so far and the all-important family tree.
"As for the tower, we illuminated it for the Jubilee last year and it was quite stunning, so we decided to extend it for three nights this year, Friday to Sunday to give more people the chance to come down of an evening and see it.
"The exhibition itself will run for a full week leading up to the coronation so we hope to see lots of people popping into the town and perhaps sharing our hashtag on social media #shoplocalwhitehaven."
