PARENTS of the first Cumbrian baby born in 2023 are grateful to hospital staff who promptly acted in an emergency C-Section.
Noah Jacob Brown was born to Sarah and Steven Brown of Whitehaven on January 1 at 12.28am.
Although Steven and Sarah are celebrating Noah's arrival, he did not make his entrance to the world easy.
Sarah had to go for an unplanned C-section.
"It was worrying as we had not planned for the C-section at all, but we had no choice, and staff said it was necessary," said Steven, 35.
"Sarah's blood vitals were dropping when we were at the hospital, and staff rushed her in for the C-section, so we could not go with our original plan of normal birth.
"Despite the worrying, everything was fine and all the stress was worth it as we finally have him here with us.
"After he was born, nurses told us that he could be the first baby of Cumbria to be born in the new year and selected group around the UK.
"We are so in love with him despite keeping us up since he got home a few days ago.
"As we adjust to becoming new parents, we would like to say thank you to the West Cumbria hospital staff for their help.
"In particular, midwife Dawn Quirk and midwife Grace Weight who we have named 'Noah's Angels' as they helped us with Noah during the stressful time."
