More than £25,000 has been donated to good causes – thanks to the Co-op.
Cleator Moor, Egremont and Seascale Co-op food stores, along with Co-op Whitehaven Funeral Care, have donated a total of £25,892.66 to organisations in Copeland.
The cash was raised through the Co-op membership cards, with every £1 customers spend on Co-op products, 2p goes to a local charity. Customers can choose which of the six charities in the area they wish to support.
This year the money was donated to Phoenix Youth Club in Cleator Moor, Beck Bottom Community Garden in Hensingham, The Gather in Ennerdale, Egremont Rainbows, Bee Unique Autism, and Beckermet C of E Primary School.
Adam Muncaster, Co-op member pioneer, said: “Each charity visited its respective store or funeral care to collect a cheque, and staff congratulated them on a fantastic year with the Co-op. Lastly, they all went away with the knowledge that we will still be there to support them with further projects if they wish.
