A NEW entrepreneurs' market has been set up in Whitehaven to support start-up businesses.
It will be called TEGretail and it will be based in a four-storey building on Whitehaven high street. The aim is to help and support start-up businesses as much or as little as they require.
Footfall is down significantly, and our main shopping areas are experiencing the highest proportion of empty retail units in decades.
TEGretail said: "We aim to fix this! Some people think retail is dead.
"The old way of retail might be, but we think it just needs reimagined for a new type of customer and a new type of retailer.
"We want to give people from any background the chance to learn 'retail' in our unique TEGretail Hub so we can help them move into their own space when ready."
The CBC Young Entrepreneurs' Market will soon be known as the TEGmarket, and is sponsored by Stainless Metal Craft.
The creation of the TEGretail Hub will allow startup businesses to have a 6-12 month discounted permanent space to sell their products or services.
Whilst they are part of the programme they will be mentored, and their progress monitored within the Hub, and taught how to develop their business skills whilst having a permanent platform to market their products.
After 6-12 months of being part of the Entrepreneurs' Startup Programme they will have gained enough business knowledge and acumen to open and run their own shop.
