A POPULAR country pub and restaurant has closed its doors – just eight months after reopening under new management.
The owners of The White Mare in Beckermet made the announcement on Facebook, blaming the rising costs of energy, food and beer for the decision.
The rural pub, which closed during the pandemic, had reopened in March with the launch of a new food and drink menu.
A post on the pub’s Facebook page said: “With great sadness we have to confirm that the White Mare is now closed until further notice.
“Increased energy, food and beer prices in a difficult winter has resulted in the pub being no longer able to trade.
“Thank you to all of our customers for the support since we opened in March. We hope a new operator can be found as the pub is simply stunning and deserves to be full of customers once more.”
