A COUPLE have tied the knot in a popular Cumbrian venue, celebrating their love in a classic autumnal wedding.
On November 19, at the Daffodil Hotel and Spa in Grassmere, an elegant wedding saw the marriage of Sara Thompson, 41, a cleaning operative at a school and Michael Hawkrigg, 51 who works for Sellafield Limited.
The couple who live in Moor Row got engaged after Michael was struggling to think of a Christmas present for Sara, when he asked, Sara simply said: "A ring!"
Sara said: "I wonder what he will get me this year."
Sara's dress was from the Essence of Australia at Blush Bridal Boutique and Michael's suit was from Charles Menswear in Whitehaven. Sara's hair was finished by Chere Adair's mobile hairdressing in Whitehaven and her makeup by Hello Beautiful Salon, also in Whitehaven.
The venue styling was done by Grace and Annie's events stylists. The cake was by the Bakery at Number 4 in Ambleside.
Favours at the wedding were love keys and cupcakes. Flowers were from Lily Lous of Ambleside and entertainment was provided by Pop up and Play in Workington.
Attendees include Wilson Mccluskey, bride's son, Carl Cunningham, nephew of the bride, John Burns, bride's brother, Anne Hawkrigg of Inkerman Terrace, mother of the groom and the two page boys, TJ Morgan and Denzel Morgan.
The maid of honour was Victoria Taylor. Bridesmaids include Courtney Taylor, Lisa Burns, the bride's sister, Taylor Wardle, the bride's daughter and Stephanie Roberts.
Lily May Taylor, Faith Louise Taylor and Aubrie Pearl were flower girls. All the girls' dresses were from Chi Chi of London.
The first dance song was Rhianna - Lift Me Up as Sara and Michael said they "both just love it".
Video footage was captured by R and J Media but Sara got lucky as she actually won a competition online and bagged herself a free photography session with Different Angle Photography, meaning that was one less expense!
Sara and Michael took a pre-wedding honeymoon to Gran Canaria and are hoping to get away again next year.
Sara and Michael said: "The sun shone on November 19 at the Daffodil Hotel and Spa in Grasmere. The bride and groom would like to thank all friends and family for making it a perfect weekend after a difficult year."
