This past weekend crowds gathered in the town to enjoy the switch on of this year's Christmas lights.
Whitehaven Town Council organised the event with hundreds turning out to enjoy the festivities.
The event was held on Saturday, November 19, and there was also a fair ground on the harbourside along with other entertainment.
The switch on was held in the market place with the mayor of Whitehaven Charlie Maudling switching the lights on at 5pm.
Local artistes appeared on the stage along with Whitehaven Theatre Group, dance schools and an ABBA tribute act.
A spokesperson from Whitehaven Town Council said: "We had a wonderful day and the weather was fantastic. The market area was packed and we had a Taylor's funfair on th harbourside that lots of people attended too.
"It was a fantastic day for shopkeepers and other businesses in the town and all the members of the public who came along really enjoyed it.
"All the lights are fantastic and the switch on went extremely well. Everyone really enjoyed the dance groups and the ABBA tribute went very well, a lot of people were dancing along."
