THIS week we asked readers to pick the best takeaways near them, and we have create a list of some reader approved takeouts in West Cumbria.
Little Indian
Little Indian in located on Mirehouse in Whitehaven. It serves up classic Indian takeaway curries and has garnered masses of great reviews on TripAdvisor, possessing a 4.5/5 star rating. One review said:
"First class, ordered something totally different, and it was very very tasty, wouldnt go anywhere else now, Little Indian all the time for me."
Chris Hayes and Steve Nicholson recommended this small but mighty takeaway spot.
Vagabond
The Vagabond is located close to Whitehaven Harbour, and serves everything from pizza to pasta, steaks and pies. On a Sunday, they offer great roasts. You can takeaway or eat in here, but several of our readers recommended the Vagabond.
Diane Elliot, Katrina Halcrow, Carol Spedding and Anne Grierson all recommended takeout from the Vagabond.
Abby's Cafe
Taking a slightly different perspective at the usual takeaway we imagine, Pauline Walker recommended Abby's Cafe. This quaint cafe in Whitehaven offers eat in or takeout food. Recently opened in 2022, the business ran by 19 year old Abby Roper has been a great success so far.
Food Glorious Food
This takeaway food spot situated on Preston Street offers a large selection of food such as bacon rolls, big breakfasts, pies and much more.
James Delaney recommended here, saying:
"Got to be Food Glorious Food always fresh food made daily and reasonable prices and friendly service."
Reviews online follow the same praises of great food and friendly staff.
Tiger Inn
This takeout spot is located in Cleator Moor and is highly regarded as one of the best Chinese takeaways in the area. Lindsay Andrews recommended here and reviews online follow the same praise as one read:

Delicious
Delicious have takeaway spots in both Workington and Whitehaven and was one of the most recommended spots in both towns, truly living up to its name. They serve primarily pizzas but have wraps, burgers and more. The takeout spots have 4.8 stars on Foodhub and reviews online say:
"Friendly efficient service, tasty food at reasonable prices."
Aroma Coffee & Takeaway
Aroma Coffee is located in Ellenborough in Maryport and offers an extensive menu from pizzas and burgers to wraps and kebabs. Aroma was again one of the most recommended places from our readers at the Times and Star. Online reviews live up to the same hype as Aroma has 4.7 stars, one review said:
"Very clean, friendly Staff & great choice of food."
Crossquays Chipshop
This chipshop located on King Street in Maryport was recommended by readers multiple times. One review read:
"Good food, good service, fish cooked to order lovely and fresh tasting."
Another review crowned the chip shop 'The Worlds Best Chip Shop' saying:
"The most delicious chip shop in the world by far. Chips are deliciously soft, never less than perfect. No black bits , clean fat. Simply heaven wrapped in paper."
Paprika
This takeout is located on Washington Street in Workington and offers classic Indian curries. You are able to eat in here but many opt for the ease of a takeout meal. Reviews online rack up to a 4.5 star rating for Paprika. From Balti to Biryani and the hots of Vindaloo and Naga Murgh, Paprika lives up to the hype.
Sam's Pizzeria
This pizzeria and kebab house is located on King St in Aspatria. Readers such as Garry Fish recommended here and online review mark this as a 4.5 star eatery as well. One review said:
"Great selection, massive portions, tastes great too."
