A talented youngster from Whitehaven will be a familiar face on TV screens over Christmas as he stars in a supermarket's festive ad.

Bobby Donald from Whitehaven landed a starring role in Morrisons’ Christmas advertising campaign, 'Farmer Christmas', which is now being aired on TV.

The 11-year-old who filmed the advert last month in St Albans, plays the lead boy enjoying a family Christmas dinner.

He can also be heard saying “nice ride, Mister!” to Father Christmas as he arrives on a tractor for Christmas dinner.

Bobby’s dad, Shaun Donald, said: “It was really good. He loved it.

“He was telling us a all about it, how they did it. We were getting all the inside information about what was being done.

“They sprayed the snow all over the house and the garden. You would swear it was the middle of winter.”

Bobby is set to star as a wicked monkey in Whitehaven Theatre Group’s pantomime, The Wizard of Oz, at the Solway Hall over Christmas.

Earlier this year Bobby starred as ‘Michael’ in a national production of Billy Elliot the Musical at Leicester’s Curve Theatre.

The show recently won Best Musical Production at the UK Theatre Awards and is now rumoured to make it to the West End.

Shaun said Bobby was itching to tread the boards again.

He said: “He’d love nothing more than to get back on stage. He wants to perform. That’s what he’s always wanted to do.

“He could sing before he could talk and he could dance before he could walk.”

It’s not the first time the promising young performer has appeared on television – he also starred in two series of the CBeebies programme, Biggleton.

Bobby attends Whitehaven Theatre Group, Whitehaven Theatre of Youth, Stage Stars Dance School and Sing Stars Sing School.

He also has private dance lessons with Karen Starkey School of Dance, private drama lessons with Alex Clark and private singing lessons with Beth Clark.
