A PERVERT living in west Cumbria must sign the Sex Offender’s Register after he admitted downloading more than 24,000 indecent images of children.
At Workington Magistrates’ Court, John Parr, 65, of Frizington Road, Frizington, pleaded guilty to:
- Making 346 Category A indecent images of children (the most serious category of abuse images)
- Making 723 Category B indecent images of children
- Making 23,021 Category C indecent images of children
- Possessing one extreme pornographic image, which portrayed a person performing an act of intercourse or oral sex with a dog
Pamela Fee, prosecuting, told the court that police found a number of images located on his tablet and desktop computer following a search of his premises.
The items were seized and a number of images were found across all three categories.
The images were downloaded by the defendant and saved to his devices between November 21, 2019 and February 24, 2021.
Ms Fee said the defendant had started downloading the images six years ago when he was living in the USA.
He had trashed his computer in the USA and these indecent images were all downloaded in England, the court was told.
David Pope, defending, said the defendant was of previous good character and had pleaded guilty at the earliest opportunity.
Magistrates felt the offences were beyond their sentencing powers and sent the case to Carlisle Crown Court for sentence.
The defendant was granted unconditional bail until his next court appearance on November 29.
He was ordered to sign the sex offender’s register.
