A MAN denied stealing £1,623 from his employer when he appeared before a court.
Paul Cohen, 42, of Scotch Street, Whitehaven, pleaded not guilty to a charge of theft by employee, when he appeared at Workington Magistrates’ Court on Monday.
Cohen is accused of stealing to the value of £1623.26 belonging to Travis Perkins in Cleator Moor while he was working as assistant branch manager.
The offence is alleged to have taken place between November 16, 2020 and December 8, 2020.
Cohen, who was represented by John Cooper, elected trial by jury.
He will next appear at Carlisle Crown Court on November 28.
