A TAKEAWAY restaurant in Whitehaven has been handed a new two-out-of-five food hygiene rating.
Ali Taj, a takeaway at 33 Tangier Street, Whitehaven, was given the score after an assessment on September 6, the Food Standards Agency's website shows.
The takeaway received a 'generally satisfactory' for when it came to both hygienic food handling and the management of food safety at the premise.
However, it was the cleanliness and condition of facilities and building which was branded as 'improvement necessary'.
A spokesperson from Ali Taj said they are looking to appeal the current rating.
"It was to do with the structural situation of the building that they found issues with not the inside, but we currently have work going on within the building at the moment which looks to address this.
"It will be getting sorted within the next couple of weeks and we will apply for a new rating," they said.
It means that of Copeland's 66 takeaways with ratings, 29 have ratings of five and none have zero ratings.
