Residents living on a Whitehaven estate took to the pavements to walk in memory of lost loved ones.
Councillor Carl ‘Wammo’ Walmsley organised the first memory walk around Mirehouse in honour of residents who have passed away in the last few years.
St Andrew’s Church opened the doors at 4pm with a memory tree in the foyer for people to place the name of a loved one in remembrance.
All the names will be read out in the All Souls service in the church. Paul Kerry, Church minister started the walk off with a short prayer.
Cllr Walmsley said: "As always I was blown away by the support of the estate’s residents. They came out in force in remembrance of their loved ones.
“We have lost so many people off the estate, some quite recently, so it was a really emotional day for all those who attended.
“I couldn’t make it myself so was going to change the date but seeing how much work the church had already put in I decided to go with it and seeing the pictures and hearing the feedback I’m so glad I did.
“I can’t thank Paul Kerry and his team at St Andrew’s church enough. This will be the first of many planned walks on the estate."
