MARATHON Man Gary Mckee has encouraged people to join him in his epic challenge as he approaches his 250th day.

The Cleator Moor man is over half way through his 365 marathon in 365 day challenge to raise £1million for charities Hospice at Home and Macmillan Cancer Support.

In his latest diary, Gary said: "Week 36 sees day 250 come round. Another milestone and the time is just flying in.

"Since I’ve pulled back on the pace another four people have ran full marathons with me.

"The schools are also back so that means Beau and Minnie will only be cycling with me at weekends (and half term/holidays).

"I attended the Workington v Whitehaven match on Sunday and £800 was raised so a big thanks to Workington for organising and carrying out a bucket collection.

"Thanks also to Whitehaven who raised £250 from the sale of training tops.

"I’m following a lady on Strava who is attempting a world record at running both Islands of New Zealand. She’s having lots of issues with her support team or lack of support and if got me to thinking how fortunate I am to having the team that I’ve got behind me.

"From support runners and riders to Amy, Elwyn and Oliver doing all they do and Bill & Janet and Katherine turning out every day in all weather conditions to make tea and coffee and cakes. Both charities are there whenever needed and only a phone call away.

"Then we have all the people who are doing their own challenges to bring in sponsorship. And lastly but certainly not least is my own family who are behind me every step of the way.

"So a big thanks to everyone who is helping out in any way at all.

"Feel free to join me anytime if you want to put a few miles in."
