Delighted students at St Benedict’s Catholic High School in Whitehaven have been celebrating after receiving their A-level results today.
Among the top performers at the school was Connor Allan, who secured a place at the University of Oxford, where he will study maths and computer science.
Connor achieved a B in D&T, A*s in maths and further maths and an A in computer science. He said: “I’m quite happy with them.”
Juliet Bridgman was also accepted into the University of Oxford after achieving an A* in history, and As in English Literature, maths and further maths.
She will go on to study for a degree in Law with European Law. She said: “I’m really pleased and happy that it’s all paid off.”
Kai Savage received an A* in geography and As in chemistry, physics and maths. He will study chemistry at Imperial College, London. He said: “I’m really looking forward to it.”
Emily King achieved a distinction* in performing arts, As in history and English Literature and a C in maths. She will study creative writing and theatre and drama at Aberstwyth University.
She said: “I’m really happy!”
Jack Mellon got a B in history, Cs in sociology and English Literature and a D in computer science. He will study psychology and criminology at Edge Hill University.
He said: “I’m incredibly happy with them and as long as I’m in, I’m not bothered at all.”
Eve Harker received an A in art & design, a B in D&T product design, an E in further maths and an E in maths. She will study animation at Lincoln University.
She said: “It’s what I expected”
Olivia Wood achieved an E in chemistry, an E in biology, an A in geography and a D in maths. She will complete a degree scientific with LLWR.
Millie Sisson gained a merit in applied science, a distinction in business and a distinction in sport.
She will study sports science at Northumbria University.
Millie said: “I’m pleased. I got more than enough UCAS points.”
Imogen Pearson got an A* in art, an E in biology, a B in geography and an E in maths. She will study architecture at Northumbria University.
She said: “I’m chuffed.”
James Longdon received a merit in business, a B in English Language, a C in geography and a D in product design. He will study professional policing at the University of Cumbria.
He said: “I’m very happy.”
Abbie Brown achieved an A* in sociology, a C in biology and an A in geography. She will study forensic science at Northumbria University.
She said: “I’m very happy.”
Hannah Stephen received a B in sociology, an A* in art and design and A in geography. She will study geography at the University of Manchester.
She said: “I’m excited. Really happy.”
Kate Starkie achieved a distinction* in business, a B in D&T and an A in English Language.
She will complete a project management degree apprenticeship at Sellafield.
Emma Jackson, headteacher, said: “We’d like to congratulate all the young people on their achievements today and wish them all every success in the future.
“We have students going to study a wide variety of subjects at university from architecture to Zoology. Another group are off to do Level 3 apprenticeships in the local area. We are extremely proud of them all.”
