A WHITEHAVEN chippy has been praised for its inclusive menu as they passed a secret shopper experience from the council with flying colours.
Frasers Chippy in Whitehaven recently had a secret shopper come into their store and order from the gluten free menu.
They tested the food for gluten levels and the establishment was praised for its safety standards.
The chippy annouced on its Facebook the good news and were met with praise from customers, with the post garnering over 100 likes and comments.
The check up came in the wake of customer feedback in which one visitor had said that nothing can be 100 per cent gluten free, and the shop should not promote selling gluten free things.
The chip shop spoke about this saying: "It disheartened the staff and owner as it is something we really try hard with. We keep on top of filtering the pans, spending a lot of money on special filters to be as close to zero gluten as possible."
Gluten-free options are required by customers with coeliac disease, a condition where your immune system attacks your own tissues when you eat gluten.
The shop said of its visit: "The staff and owner are delighted as they try their best to accommodate these customers. Everyone was extremely pleased and reassured."
