CUMBRIAN band The Northern Threads have just finished their second performance at Kendal Calling and are already setting their sights on achieving their biggest dreams.
The Northern Threads, or TNT, started off as just some friends playing covers and dabbling in writing some originals here and there.
The band name derived from a mix between the local clothes shop called ‘Threads’ and the song ‘a Northern Soul’ by the Verve.
The band vividly remember playing anywhere that would take them when they first started up and slowly over time they were getting people contacting them asking them to play at their venues.
The Northern Threads have performed at local festival Kendal Calling twice now.
I asked the lads how this experience was for them: "Our first year at Kendal was a pretty surreal moment for us and we didn’t think it could be topped but this year's gig on the Woodlands stage surpassed all our expectations."
"There was a mad amount of emotions between us from the moment we got on stage, to the point we got off.
"It’s a mad feeling seeing our songs go from 20 second ideas in a group chat to be being sang back to us in a field full of new and old fans."
The band have been perfecting their craft as they focussed on keeping their live sets as flawless and fresh as possible.
They have headlined their own gig in Manchester and played shows in Scotland which they described as 'mega'.
The pandemic halted the progress the band were making in terms of getting out and playing.
However, the band used this time to slow down and gather perspective on the direction they were heading in. Now, they get to put all the lockdown work into motion and perform again.
When asked what their biggest dream were, they said: "To keep bringing the best live sets we possibly can and getting as much exposure as possible, in terms of a specific festival we’d always love the chance to play our music outside of the UK."
The boys of the band are always working on new things and they shared a sneak peek of what is to come, saying: "We have plans to record some of the tunes we have demo’ed, aiming for an EP release towards the end of the year and got lots of gigs planned all over the country."
