A BURGLAR has been given a suspended prison sentence after he entered an outdoor clothing store and stole items worth £291.
Glen Scott, 48, entered Millets in Whitehaven as a trespasser at 11.30pm on Sunday, and stole the items of clothing.
The defendant, of Bowness Road, Whitehaven, pleaded guilty to burglary other than dwelling, when he appeared at Workington Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday.
Scott was sentenced to four months in prison, suspended for 18 months.
Magistrates said only a custodial sentence could be justified because there had been some planning, he had acted with others and had a previous record.
He must complete 30 rehabilitation activity requirement days and was ordered to pay £500 in compensation to Millets.
The defendant must also pay £85 costs.
