MUNCASTER Castle is ready to host the “Race The Tide” weekend where brave entrants tackle one of the most challenging and fun 10K obstacle races in the country.
Those taking part wade and swim through rivers, crawl through mud and scramble over the beautiful, wooded hillsides surrounding the historic Cumbrian castle.
Ewan Frost-Pennington, from Muncaster, says: “We are delighted and excited to be hosting the 9th Race the Tide. Since it first began it has grown and developed into a spectacular event that is so much more than an all-terrain obstacle race!
“Over the last 10 years of organising it, we have learned how to make obstacles that create a challenge and spectacle. This year we will again be adding a couple more challenges to the mix.”
Race the Tide is an obstacle fell race, taking in some of the finest features in the Lake District: steep climbs, marshland, and watercourses. From lining up outside the iconic Muncaster Castle to await the cannon bank start - to the final river crossing – entrants are pushed to the limit!
Race Day is Saturday August 13 and the race starts in the historic gardens of Muncaster Castle and finishes near Muncaster home farm barn. When the race is those involved head straight for the barn for some celebratory food.
All are welcome to the event and the castle are urging people to come along and get involved in the festivities, whether that be as a runner, marshal or someone who just wants a fun evening!
