IF you're looking for something to do this weekend then look no further. 

Here at The Whitehaven News we've compiled together a list of the top ten things to do in Whitehaven and Copeland. 

We hope that you'll find something you'll enjoy. 

Number 10 - The weather has been fantastic recently so now is really the perfect time time to go to the beach. St Bees is a great place to visit, with a fantastic beach and a number of pubs and an ice cream shop. 

Number 9 - When the sun has been shining like it is it would also be well worth a visit to the lakes. Wasdale and Ennerdale are both fantastic lakes with stunning views of the countryside and fells. 

Number 8 - There are also some hidden gems in the Copeland countryside like Longlands Lake and Clint's Quarry, which are both lovely nature reserves. 

Number 7 - Copeland is one of the best places to enjoy hiking and exploring the great outdoors. Dent Fell is a particularly pleasant walk and has views from the summit stretching for miles. 

Number 6 - Further south in the borough there are also some fascinating natural spaces. Millom is home to Haverigg beach on the coast Black Combe fell and Hodbarrow nature reserve. 

Number 5 - If you prefer to enjoy the sea side as opposed to the mountains you can also enjoy fantastic treks along the coast. The coastal path will take you from St Bees, through the stunning Fleswick Bay, into Whitehaven then along to Harrington. 

Number 4 - For those looking to avoid the sun The Gaiety cinema offers a great place to escape. This weekend they'll be showing the smash hit movie, Minions: The Rise of Gru. 

Number 3 - Summer is the perfect time to enjoy a few drinks in a beer garden. There are some great pubs in Whitehaven and the surrounding areas with relaxed outdoor spaces. 

Number 2 - Whitehaven harbour is truly a lovely place to visit when the sun's out. You can take a stroll or enjoy a drink and some food at one of the area's cafes and bars. 

Number 1 - Around Copeland there are a number of places to go out with your friends and family for dinner. Akash Tandoori is a wonderful Indian restaurant and Zest is a great place for a lovely meal.
