Whitehaven Theatre of Youth are busy rehearsing ‘Matilda’ which will be presented at the Solway Hall between July 13 and July 16 at 7:15pm.
An increased membership of 50 children aged from 7 to 18 will be performing for the first in west Cumbria in this musical.
The group have also organised a school performance on the Friday morning for all the local schools who have taken the opportunity of using it as part of their summer excursion as well as supporting their very own pupils. The performance is already a full house.

Director Maria Morton said: "We always have one or two fascinating surprises for our audiences when we produce a musical and Matilda certainly doesn’t disappoint.
"But you need to book your tickets now as ticket sales are going really well."
Recently, two members have gained a coveted place at the National Youth theatre Summer School. Heather Smith and Jasmine James were thrilled to pass the audition and they have leading roles in Matilda.
Both parents credited WToY for the way the girls have grown in confidence and performing arts ability over their time with the group.
