A prominent town centre building was illuminated in the colours of the Union flag to celebrate the Queen's Platinum Jubilee.
St Nicholas' Church tower in Whitehaven was bathed in red, blue and white, during the evenings of the bank holiday weekend, to mark the special occasion.
Gerard Richardson MBE, who organised the town's jubilee events with Whitehaven Town Council, said it was instead of lighting a beacon.
He said: "St Nicholas' tower is the heart of the town and we thought it was only fitting to light it up in patriotic colours."
The lighting was provided by Fluid Power - a Cumbrian company that the town council partners with for events.
Marlene Jewell, Whitehaven Town Council clerk, said: "St Nicholas' tower is the centrepiece for the town and this was our way of celebrating the jubilee and we are delighted with the result. It really is quite fitting for the occasion."
