AS street parties have been happening across Cumbria and the rest of the country, we wanted to take a look at one first-hand.
An estate on Hillcrest in Whitehaven put on its own Jubilee street party to celebrate the momentous occasion in British history.
Residents on the estate all came together to enjoy the festivities and witness something special after what has been a difficult time.
We spoke to resident June Pearson to find out more about the party.
Mrs Pearson said: “Back in 2020 we held a big event on the street for VE Day, it was during the peak of lockdown, but we were able to come together safely and have a nice time as a community.
“We had been speaking recently and all wanted to do something similar again, so we decided on the Platinum Jubilee weekend. I wanted it to be better than anything we’d done before.”

June explained that there are lots of children on the estate, so she wanted to do something special that they’d remember.
She wanted the party to be traditional and used her own experiences of parties during the Silver Jubilee in 1977 to inspire the event.
Everyone wore red, white and blue and some wore tiaras to show their adoration for Her Majesty the Queen.
There was also an almost life-size replica on The Queen who sat alongside the guests at the party, created by June herself.
