A CELEBRATORY tea party for The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee will take place at Distington Crematorium’s Walled Garden on Saturday, June 4.
Everyone is welcome to come along between 10am and 2pm to enjoy sandwiches, cakes, scones and more.
Alongside the tea party refreshments, visitors are invited to plant seeds and there will be an oak tree planting ceremony to mark the occasion.
Councillor Andy Pratt, Copeland’s Portfolio Holder for Bereavement Services, said: "This is a great way to mark this historic event – while honouring all the hard work our volunteers have put in so far to transform the garden."
This is an opportunity for the community to appreciate the transformative work that has been completed in the garden so far, while celebrating the Queen’s 70-year reign.
The event is being hosted by Copeland Borough Council’s Bereavement Services and Parks and Open Spaces teams as part of their volunteering programme to restore the Victorian garden.
Copeland Borough Council’s Bereavement Services team are now looking for volunteers to help at the walled garden during the weekdays, as well as the first Saturday of each month.
