CUMBRIAN students have undertaken a week’s work experience programme which was facilitated by a specialist commissioning delivery firm.
MissionCX which is based in Whitehaven, welcomed 17 students from Energy Coast UTC to the Bus Station and Westlakes Science Park earlier this month to undertake a week of work experience with a wide range of leading companies, ranging from local SME’s to global corporate organisations.
The students, from the Energy Coast UTC, were divided into three groups, learning skills that will prepare them for the world of work.
MissionCX provides specialist commissioning delivery services, ensuring projects are commissioned on time, and budget for a diverse portfolio of clients, predominantly in highly regulated industries.
Ben Slater, MissionCX’s Managing Director, said: “This year’s work experience programme was again a great success thanks to the contribution of our team and the companies involved. We believe that what we can offer the students as a collective is invaluable and truly unique, providing an insight into the world of work not only from a local perspective but globally too.”
“The programme showcases the opportunities available to the students, highlights potential employment options and career pathways and starts them on their journey with experienced support. As a business, MissionCX recognise the niche skillsets within our county and are passionate about inspiring future generations and introducing them to the industries and career prospects which are on their doorstep.

“As always, the students brought enthusiasm and ideas; they were willing to learn and engaged well with all the different partner companies involved; they are a credit to the Energy Coast UTC. As a consequence, some students have been offered internships based on their contribution to the work experience programme. We are very much looking forward to next year’s programme and would welcome any businesses who are interested in being involved to get in touch.
"As part of our 1% pledge initiative, MissionCX is committed to supporting future generations with similar experiences year on year.”
Energy Coast UTC is a University Technical College on the outskirts of Workington for students of ages 14–19.
Simon Richardson, Assistant Principal said: “MissionCX’s commitment to the students is fantastic, and to put on the experience they have for our students, which was so diverse and engaging, should be applauded.”
