Mothers and children are to receive free vitamins and some will also get financial help to buy milk, fruit and vegetables.
Funding for the programme has been obtained for Cumbria County Council’s Healthy Start scheme.
The free vitamins will be given out in various centres to mothers and children up to four-years-old.
There are six centres in Copeland.
Whitehaven Library will dish out vitamins between 9.30am and 5pm on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, from 9am, to 6pm on Tuesday and Thursdays and from 10am to 2pm on Saturdays.
The Family Action Group in Mirehouse will also deliver the service from a Monday and Friday from 9am to 2pm and Thursday from 9am to 5pm.
Cleator Moor residents will be able to pick up vitamins and advice from the town’s library from 9.30am to 1pm on a Monday and Friday, from 2pm to 5pm on a Thursday and from 9.30am to 1pm on Fridays.
West Lakes library in Egremont will be giving out the vitamins from 9.30am and from 2pm until 5pm on Mondays and Thursdays.
Egremont residents can also go to the Family Centre on Southey Avenue between 2pm and 5pm on Monday and Wednesday.
Frizington library will have vitamins from 9am to 5pm on Monday to Thursday and until 4pm on Friday.
Hensingham Family Action (Family Centre), on Williamson Road - times to be confirmed
The library is the venue for Millom residents. It will be open from 9am to 5om on Monday to Thursdays and from 9am to 4.30pm on Fridays.
