A NUMBER of youth teams at St Benedict’s Rugby Club in Whitehaven have qualified for the County Cup finals.
A club spokesperson said: “A fantastic achievement for the West Coast sides, which would be very difficult to replicate. The finals will take place in the coming weeks with the under 16s playing Penrith on April 8 after a tough semi final win away at Cockermouth.
“The under 15s will play Carlisle on March 20 after defeating a dogged Millom side in the semi final.
“The under 14s will play Wigton on March 13 after reaching the final by defeating the previously unbeaten Kirkby Lonsdale at Newlands Avenue.”
The St Benedict’s Youth Coach Geoff Clements thanked the parents and the club committee for their ongoing efforts.
He also thanked a number of the sponsors, and Councillor Carl Walmsley, for continued financial support.
