A NEW team of of organisers will ensure the success of this year's Copeland Poppy Appeal.
And Alan Whitmore, Community Fundraiser - Cumbria and Isle of Man, has praised Cumbria Newspapers for its help in finding volunteers not just in Whitehaven but around Cumbria.
He said: "Just to let you know that thanks in every way to Newsquest we have recruited 21 Poppy Appeal Organisers/Co-ordinators and numerous more helpers.
"Although we can never have enough help it does now mean already that every town will be able to have Poppies available for Remembrance in their location.
"This new community of volunteers includes a new six strong leadership team in Whitehaven, new team for Carlisle.12 new team members for Penrith and individual leaders in so many other smaller towns and villages. This will mean we can now expect to raise the best part of a million pounds once again for one of the nation's favourites and most important charities."
